Call it a case of last but not least.
Following significant changes to its post-paid pricing, Telstra has now refreshed its prepaid offerings as well, adding more data to previously lacklustre internet browsing packs. The changes to prepaid plans include bonus SMS messages for each customer recharge and a major overhaul of data pricing and allowances to each of its prepaid 3G browsing packs.
The new data packs include several new price points, with each offering more data than previously on offer. Packs start at AU$5 for a 20MB allowance, but jump up quickly including a 150MB allowance for AU$10, 300MB for AU$20, 750MB for AU$39, and two high-end data bundles with 2GB and 4GB available for AU$49 and AU$79 respectively.
These new packs dramatically increase the value of the browsing packs to Telstra prepaid customers, with previous packs offering 200MB for AU$29 and 750MB for AU$69, but still leave Telstra customers a long way behind others using the services on other networks. 3 Mobile customers, for example, can purchase 1GB of data for AU$20, with this amount doubling to 2GB if the customer chooses a 12-month data contract — nearly seven times the data for the same AU$20 outlay.
