On Wednesday night, Engadget Mobile got its hands on some images and specs of what looks to be like Dell’s first Windows Phone 7 smartphone, the Dell Lightning. And my oh my, we like what we see.
According to the leaked documents, the Lightning is a portrait slider phone rocking a 4.1-inch WVGA Samsung OLED multitouch screen with the three required Back, Start, and Search buttons. In addition, the smartphone will supposedly have a 1GHz Snapdragon QSD8250 processor and 1GB Flash ROM, 512MB RAM, and an 8GB microSD card.
Multimedia and entertainment features will be well represented by the Zune and Xbox Live integration and 5-megapixel camera. What’s interesting, however, is that in one of the product sheets , it says the the Lightning’s browser will have full support of Flash, Flash Video, and Silverlight. Previously, Microsoft said that Flash would not be available when the first Windows Phone 7 handsets start shipping during the holiday season, and Engadget is reporting that the Lightning is due to launch in Q4.
One final “oh my” moment: though the Lightning is a quad-band GSM handset compatible with both AT&T’s and T-Mobile’s 3G networks, it is said that it will be upgraded to LTE in Q4 2011.
Obviously, it’s a bit premature to make any judgments on the Dell Lightning, but images and specs definitely impress. Your thoughts?
