It’s no secret that a Verizon-compatible Nexus One exists; the question now is when will it be available. Unfortunately, we didn’t hear anything official at CTIA 2010 and the previously reported March 23 launch has obviously come and gone. So now what?
Well, according to the latest round of rumors, the Verizon N1 could arrive as early as next week. A Nexus One Forum member by the name of NexusOneLove said he stumbled upon a listing for the Verizon model on Google’s page for $199 with contract, which was taken down a few minutes later, but not before he could capture a screenshot (see above). As other media outlets have pointed out, this could easily have been Photoshopped but there appears to be stacking evidence that the smartphone will be released soon.
The handset has already received FCC’s blessing, clearing the way for its arrival. Soft Sailor also received word from one of its more-reliable tipsters that Verizon will make an announcement in one week’s time; jkOnTheRun’s source is being a little more conservative saying that the Verizon Nexus One will go on sale in April and it will have something the other versions don’t.
Again, this is all rumor at this point, but we know a lot of you are champing at the bit for Big Red’s version of the Nexus One, so we just wanted to give you the latest word on the street. Of course, once we get the official word from Google and Verizon, you’ll be the first to know.
