Samsung Galaxy 3, Samsung Galaxy 5 and Samsung Galaxy Beam: Beam me up

Get your tin-foil hats on, because Samsung has three more Android phones coming down from the swirling galactic skies. The Samsung Galaxy 3, Samsung Galaxy 5 and Samsung Galaxy Beam all aim to bring reasonably-priced smart phones to our planet.

The Galaxy Beam (pictured centre) has a little projector on board so you can share photos and video on the nearest wall, face or cow. To give you something worth showing off, it has an 8-megapixel camera that also records video in HD. Its 94mm (3.7-inch) Super AMOLED screen will sport WVGA resolution.

The Galaxy 5 (pictured left) looks a lot like the Samsung Genio Touch, but because the Galaxy 5 is running Google’s Android operating system, you’ll get access to a lot more features and heaps of apps available from the Android Market.

We expect the Galaxy 5 (pictured right) to be the most affordable of the bunch, because it has a relatively small 71mm (2.8-inch) screen and a 2-megapixel camera. At least there’s Wi-Fi on board, although it doesn’t support the latest 802.11n standard.

The Galaxy 3 has a bigger, 8mm (3.2-inch) touchscreen and a 3-megapixel camera, and includes support for 802.11n Wi-Fi.

The Galaxy 5 and Galaxy 3 will arrive in Europe in July, while the Beam will beam down in Singapore first, with no dates comfirmed for its landing in the UK.
