TouchTunes creates jukebox remote app for iPhone

MyTouchTunes Mobile

Last month, digital jukebox purveyor TouchTunes announced a new Web-based service that lets users create playlists at home and then access them later at nearly any location with one of the company’s jukeboxes. The service is called MyTouchTunes and it aims to provide a fun, social way to interact with music for a night out on the town. (Of course, you’ll have to find a place where it works first.)

Now, the company has launched MyTouchTunes Mobile, an iPhone app that lets you access all the features of the service from the palm of your hand. The app also has the added bonus of being able to use the location based network to track down TouchTunes-enabled bars close to your current location. In addition, you can browse playlists, purchase jukebox credits, and connect with other MyTouchTunes members.

On initial glance, I can say that the mobile program looks much sleeker and easier to use than the Web-based version. And the mapping feature is sure to come in handy for many. However, one of the benefits of the service letting you create playlists at home is that allows you to focus your attention on friends and drinking while out-on-the-town. The app has just as much potential to suck you in as the actual jukebox at the bar.
