If you can’t wait to get your hands on the new BlackBerry Torch 9800, your future’s bright: your future could be Orange. Orange has announced the latest CrackBerry from Research in Motion will be “coming soon” to the fruity network.
As for when, how much it’ll cost and what calling plans will be available, Orange is keeping schtum. Honestly, getting details out of these people is like getting blood out of, er, an orange. Vodafone has already announced it will offer the Torch with a similar lack of specificity, but has created a Web page for you to register your interest.
As with the iPhone 4 and its call-plan announcements, the networks will throw their hats into the ring but won’t commit to specifics as they jostle to offer better deals than their competitors. This brinkmanship will probably last right up until the Torch’s release: there’s no confirmed UK date yet, but the US release is 12 August.
To see what all the fuss is about, take a gander at our hands-on photos of the Torch. It’s the first BlackBerry to combine Qwerty keyboard with touchscreen, and it’s also the first to rock BlackBerry 6, the latest version of RIM’s BB operating system.
