A leaked Verizon document confirming many details of the rumors surrounding the Droid 2 Global has made its way online. Though Verizon Wireless has yet to formally announce the dual-band CDMA/quad-band GSM phone, we now have a pretty clear picture of what lies around the corner.
For starters, it’s confirmed that the processor will be 1.2GHz, which is considerably faster than anything else on the market right now. Other specs found in the leaked sheet include 8GB of internal memory, an 8GB microSDHC card, and a 5-megapixel camera capable of 720p HD recording. As expected with phones running Android 2.2, there is full Flash 10.1 support, and the device can operate as a 3G hot spot.
On the software front, the Droid 2 Global will come preloaded with Quickoffice to allow document editing. In a move sure to please IT admins and business professionals, the phone will provide the ability to remotely wipe the device and its SD card. Look for the Droid 2 Global to be announced in both dark sapphire and winter white editions once Verizon formally recognizes the phone’s existence.
I can’t help but think an announcement must be little more than a few days away now that the original Droid 2 has dropped to $149.99 with a contract. Best Buy is rumored to be selling through its remaining stock to make room for the Global edition. Additional rumors peg this phone’s launch as November 11, so look for Verizon to make a move this week.
