LG Optimus C is for Cricket Wireless

ORLANDO, Fla.–No, your eyes do not deceive you–it is indeed yet another LG Optimus handset, and this time it’s for Cricket Wireless. We took a look at the LG Optimus C during the Mobile Focus event here at CTIA 2011, and it does look and feel like the other Optimus phones.

The Optimus C is the seventh entry-level Optimus handset to hit the market here in the U.S. (Previous models include the Optimus T, the Optimus S, the Optimus M, the Optimus U, the Optimus V, and the Vortex, which is Verizon’s slightly different version of the same phone). The Optimus C is perhaps most like the Optimus M in terms of appearance. Measuring 4.57 inches long by 2.22 inches wide by 0.63 inch thick, the Optimus C is clad in silver plastic all around the sides and the back, and it weighs at around 5.39 ounces.

The 3.2-inch display is the same as well, as is the Android 2.2 operating system. The Optimus C is designed as a basic Android phone, so we weren’t surprised at the 600Mhz processor or the simple 3.2-megapixel camera that does not have an LED flash. It does have all of the usual Android smartphone features, though. They include GPS, Wi-Fi, all of the Google app support Android users are accustomed to, and even EV-DO Rev. A.

Last but not least, the Optimus C is available for $199 MSRP, but you can frequently get it lower than that due to Web discounts–right now, you can get it from Cricket for around $130 without a contract. As Cricket offers unlimited bundles for as low as $55 a month, it’s not a bad deal. Check out our photo gallery of the Optimus C.
