HTC sets date for press conference

When the letterbox rattled at the Crave team’s cosy flat this morning, we all sprinted to the door, elbows jostling, dressing gowns flapping and hangovers pulsating, to discover a mysterious invitation from HTC. Could it be to do with the launch of the HTC Pyramid or Evo 3D smart phones?

The announcement takes place next week, on 12 April, here in old London Town. The invitation gives little away, but shows a rippling puddle of liquid metal, which we find quite soothing.

If it is the Pyramid that’s going to be announced, we’d expect some hieroglyphics, or a picture of the Bangles or something. The Pyramid is a dual-core smart phone with a giant, 4.3-inch touchscreen and two cameras, one of which has an 8-megapixel resolution. Those are some pretty hefty specs, so our appendages are crossed that we will indeed see the Pyramid.

It’s possible HTC may announce the Evo 3D instead. The Evo sports twin 5-megapixel cameras that capture 3D photos and video, or 1080p high-definition video in 2D. The Evo is out in the US and will definitely come to Europe, but the US version includes next-generation 4G technology that will have to be stripped out in Blighty, as we don’t have 4G yet.

Are you excited about the Evo 3D, or are you looking forward to the Pyramid? Walk like an Egyptian to the comments section below or hit up our Facebook wall to tell us what you sphinx. Bonus points if you can come up with an ‘in de-Nile’ joke. Crave is too hungover to think of one.
