3D-loving phone botherers looking for a handset that isn’t the LG Optimus 3D are in for a treat — HTC’s French division recently issued a tweet, spotted by Engadget, confirming le nouveau Evo 3D est arrivé en France tout de suite. This means the rest of Europe is likely to get a pointy-pointy 3D slice of the action as well.

The phone, which packs twin 5-megapixel cameras for taking 3D stills and video, has already been pencilled in for a summer release in the US, where our buddies at CNET.com had a hands-on.
HTC has yet to confirm the release date of the European version, but given HTC’s track record in this area (the Euro-specific HTC Incredible S was released a full 10 months after the US-only HTC Incredible) we’re crossing our fingers, but not holding our breaths for a 2011 release.
The European edition of the HTC Evo 3D should be almost identical to the US model, at least in terms of features. It offers a 4.3-inch, glasses-free 3D display (using similar parallax tech to the Nintendo 3DS) and records 2D video at 1080p or 3D video at 720p.
The phone can also wirelessly stream photos, video and music to a Wi-Fi-enabled TV or stereo system, and will also let you output your 3D creations to a 3D TV via an HDMI cable.
The clearest difference between the US and European models will be the way in which they connect to a network. The US edition connects to the outside world via CDMA 2000, EVDO and 4G, rendering it incompatible with the wireless systems used on this side of the pond (and far in advance of what we have to put up with).
HTC will therefore have to swap the Evo 3D’s innards with Euro-centric hardware so it’ll work with our ageing 3G systems, or sit tight until 4G is rolled out in Europe.
