Apple has released the newest beta seed of iTunes 10.5 as well as iWork for iOS 3 to developers for testing.

Developers can now download both releases from the Developer Center Web site. iTunes 10.5 beta 8 includes a number of security improvements and bug fixes, focusing on iTunes Match (currently in beta as well). Developers can also test the ability to back up to iCloud from inside iTunes.

Developers should be aware that while testing the backup feature, Apple may occasionally delete all information from iCloud, meaning developers should keep a backup of all their information locally. Also of note, all iCloud information will be deleted at the end of the beta period.

To subscribe to iTunes Match:

  1. Install iTunes 10.5 beta 8 on your Mac.
  2. Open iTunes and choose Turn On iTunes Match from the Store menu.
  3. Click the Subscribe for $24.99 button and follow the onscreen instructions. Once
complete, your Music library will include songs on your computer and in iCloud.

iWork for iOS includes some bug fixes as well. It is expected that iWork for iOS will include automatic backups to iCloud. Not included in today’s updates was iOS 5, which is thought to be released alongside the iPhone 5, presumably in early October.
