They may have spelt the name wrong, but there’s not much else to begrudge Huawei’s newest smart phone, the Huawei Honor — a 4-inch Android beastie that will apparently last for three days away from the mains.
That’s right, thanks to a 1,900mAh battery, the Honor is set to offer three — count ’em — days of use without having to suckle on its power charger. It would be like owning a phone 10 years ago! High fives all around for progress.
Apart from competition-thrashing survivability, the Honor comes packing Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread, and has an 8-megapixel camera with HDR features glued to the back, as well as a 2-megapixel snapper that faces your face.
It weighs 140g, and is 10.9mm thick, which isn’t as thin or light as the iPhone 4 or the Samsung Galaxy S2, but should ensure this phone is still perfectly portable.
More excitingly, there’s a monster 1.4GHz processor hiding inside the Honor, which should mean it fires up your Android apps with nary a delay, and will likely handle your demanding hi-def video with no stuttering.
A perfectly decent-looking Android mobile then, and looking a good deal fancier than the budget Huawei Blaze. It may have cooler components stashed inside, but we’d love for the Honor to be cheaper than the competition when it hits the UK in 2012.
Huawei used to make phones for networks to stick their own logos on, but now it’s stepping out with its own brand, walking in the footsteps of the now-massive HTC. Can this Chinese company find the same kind of success?
