Samsung Galaxy Note coming late November

Is it a phone? A tablet? We’ll have to decide pretty soon, as the gargantuan Samsung Galaxy Note is coming to the UK at the end of November, earlier than expected. Mega-phone? Oh, that’s already taken.

Retailer Clove.co.uk has updated its page for the Galaxy Note, saying it’ll be on sale in the UK in late November. The official price and availability are to be confirmed, the retailer stipulates, but it notes first stock is expected in late November, and the pre-order price is set at £500 (£600 including VAT).

With a 5.3-inch screen, the Galaxy Note sits mid-way between a phone and a tablet, the strange no-man’s land previously occupied by the Dell Streak. Until it was discontinued. Still, it’s the perfect size for Crocodile Dundee-style, “That’s not a phone. This is a phone,” one-upmanship. Unless the other person whips out an iPad.

It’s an HD Super AMOLED display too, with a quite insane resolution of 1,280×800 pixels. For navigating that real estate a stylus called the S-Pen comes bundled, so it should give most smaller tablets a run for their money.

Inside is a 1.4GHz dual-core processor, similar to other high-end phones, and it manages to be just 9.6mm thin — only just fatter than an iPhone 4. An 8-megapixel camera sits on the back, and it records video at 1080p HD.

The iPhone 5 should be out by then, if today’s rumoured 4 October announcement is to be believed. It’s thought to have a dual-core processor and 8-megapixel camera too, along with a larger screen (though nowhere near as big as this beast).

So, do you think the Note is worthy of note? Or will the iPhone 5 eclipse it? Drop us a note in the comments section below or on our Facebook page.
