It’s seems like it’s been eons since we last reported on Motorola devices, even if we’ve had the excitement of the company’s acquisition by Google in the interim. Well, the drought ends today, folks, with a flood of Motorola leaks revealing the successors to both the Atrix smartphone and the Xoom tablet, and perhaps the revival of the Razr brand name.

We started 2011 with enormous anticipation for Motorola’s handset releases, but found its flagship, the Atrix, to be more than a little underwhelming, especially Motorola’s ingenious lapdock concept — something that we hope Motorola continues to improve on over the coming months. The Atrix 2 doesn’t appear to break much new ground specs-wise, but it does seem like a more refined effort from Motorola.
The image above comes from This is My Next, which managed to have a decent hands-on session with the Atrix 2, and which claimed that even though the new screen spec is seemingly identical to that of the original, Motorola has changed the pixel layout in the LCD, and the result is a much sharper image onscreen. Xoom 2 times two?

Motorola was first cab off the rank with the world’s first Android Honeycomb tablet, the Xoom, although this unit came with its fair share of early-adopter blues. The leaky taps on the world wide web are claiming that the original Xoom will be succeeded by not one, but two, new designs: a 10.1-inch model, and a smaller version with an 8.2-inch display.
Importantly, the new tablets are apparently much thinner than the former, both at about 9mm in thickness, with the smaller model weighing in at a featherweight 430 grams (the original Xoom weighed 730 grams). The rumours also suggest 1080p video recording, HD movie playback and an optional stylus pen for scribbling on the screen.
For those interested in the parts below the screen, the suggestion is that Motorola will ditch the Nvidia Tegra 2 chipset for a dual-core 1.2GHz Texas Instruments chip — with the Tegra 3 chipset right on the verge of release.
Razr, really?

Fans of the famous Moto flip, the Razr, are in for a treat, even if just in name. Motorola is rumoured to be working on the Droid Razr, a new Android-powered smartphone with a dual-core 1.2GHz processor and an exciting qHD Super AMOLED display. The Razr will also feature an 8-megapixel camera, and aims to play nice with the Motorola Lapdock accessory range.
