Archos today announced new Android tablets for its new Elements series.
First in line for a July release is the Archos 97 Carbon. Though it runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and sports a 9.7-inch IPS display, the tablet’s feature set is decidedly middle of the road.
Inside you’ll find a 1GHz processor, 16GB of flash memory, front and back cameras, HDMI-out and USB ports, support for 1080p HD video, Office Suite Viewer, a microSD card slot, and access to the Google Play store.

With an aluminum finish, the 97 Carbon weighs 21.8 ounces and measures 0.45 inch thick. Expect to pay between $229.99 and $249.99 when it goes on sale later this month.
Archos also promised to expand the Elements line with new 7- and 8-inch tablets, though the company has yet to offer additional details.
