Bigger, faster Galaxy Note rumored for IFA release

The rumored Samsung Galaxy Note successor is now expected to debut in late August at the annual IFA conference, according to MK Business News. Citing unnamed sources close to the publication, the next phone/tablet hybrid will reportedly run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and feature a larger display.

Whispers of a bigger, faster Galaxy Note surfaced a few weeks with rumors of a 5.5-inch, 1,680×1,050-pixel display and an Exynos 5250 dual-core processor running at 1.7GHz. The MK Business News report from today says that the handset may also include a 12-megapixel camera, up from the current 8-megapixel picture snapper.

Early speculation had tapped the Galaxy Note II as having an unbreakable plane (UBP) display, but this will likely not be the case. This screen technology will reportedly be implemented in future models, and could be the stopover on the way to flexible displays.

With less than two months before the tech conference kicks off in Berlin, chances are good that we could see photos and additional details surface in short order. That is, of course, provided Samsung doesn’t lock things down like it did for the Galaxy S III. Folks keeping score at home will recall that last year was the debut of the first Galaxy Note so it stands to reason that Samsung will repeat for the new model.
