J.D. Power: For third time, Verizon is customer service champ

For the third time in a row, Verizon Wireless has been dubbed the wireless provider with the best customer service, according to marketing researchers, J.D. Power and Associates.

Its semi-annual report, “2012 U.S. Wireless Customer Care Full-Service Performance Study — Volume 2 and 2012 U.S. Wireless Customer Care Non-Contract Performance Study,” gave the Big Red an overall score of 771 in customer care performance.

As for non-contract networks, Virgin Mobile, which also came in first in the previous February report, ranked No. 1 once again. It received an overall score of 750. With 718 points, TracFone came in second, and Straight Talk placed third with 705.

And to the surprise of absolutely no one, the report also found that customers who subscribed to a tiered service plan, like Verizon’s Share Everything plan and AT&T’s Mobile Share plan, are less satisfied than those who have unlimited data plans.

Satisfaction with users who have a tiered data plan scored 748 points, while unlimited data customers scored 775.
