On Wednesday at the IFA conference in Berlin, eyes turn toward Samsung as it unveils new devices on one of its favorite world stages. CNET, of course, will be on-hand in Berlin and here in the U.S. (via livestream) to bring you the blow-by-blow and smart analysis as the event unfolds.
Samsung is roundly expected to unveil the Galaxy Note 2, the successor to the original Galaxy Note device it controversially unwrapped last year at the same event.

With its large 5.3-inch screen and flimsy retro stylus, the Galaxy Note “phablet” (part phone, part tablet) was never a guaranteed hit.
The screen would always be too large for some; but for others, the mega real estate was just the ticket to circumvent the need to ever buy a tablet as a second device. Samsung hit the streets on a massive consumer campaign and was rewarded with over 7 million worldwide sales.
What better way to celebrate the global success of a breakout product than by making the sequel bigger, and almost certainly better?
Rumors point to an even larger, 5.5-inch, HD Super AMOLED screen (1,280×720-pixel resolution,) Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, a 1.4GHz quad-core Exynos 4412 processor, and an 8-megapixel camera. It should come in 16GB or 32GB storage capacities.
I’d also expect to see new tricks transfer over from Samsung’s 10.1-inch Galaxy Note tablet, including the flatter, sturdier, and more comfortable S Pen stylus; compatible apps like Adobe Photoshop Touch; and side-by-side multitasking capabilities for select apps, like the S Note notepad and the browser.
