Samsung Galaxy Note 8 spied in the wild in new leaked shots

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 has been snapped in a series of new leaked photos, which appear to show Samsung’s iPad mini rival being used in the wild.

The pictures came to light on Italian site dday.it, and show a tablet with a rounded, silver-tipped design that calls to mind the Galaxy Note 2. The camera on the back looks to be slightly raised from the rest of the tablet’s surface, while the picture above on the left shows what looks like a stored stylus in the bottom-right corner.

The Note 8, or Note 8.0 as Samsung may choose to call it, is tipped to have a 1,280×800-pixel resolution screen and a quad-core processor. The camera is reckoned to be a 5-megapixel affair.

Those specs aren’t mind-blowing, but then to be a competitive mid-sized slate these days, the important thing is to be dirt cheap. I’ll be looking for a Samsung tablet priced at £160 or less to combat the Nexus 7 and Apple’s tiny tablet.

The pictures, which show the Note 8 from both the front and back, show a tablet that looks subtly different from a leaked render we reported on earlier in the week. Because they show an actual gadget, these new shots are much more credible, so barring the possibility that these images are clever fakes or shots of a prototype, this could be a clear view of what we’ll eventually see Samsung unveil.

Company boss JK Shin has already spilled the beans on when we’ll see the Note 8 get an official airing — it’s going to be at the Mobile World Congress trade show in Barcelona, which kicks off on 25 February. Expect Samsung to hold a press conference on the 23rd or 24th, where we’ll see the Note 8 and other new mobile gadgets for the first time.

Is the Note 8 at the top of your gadget wish-list, or has Samsung confused shoppers by flogging so many different-sized devices all at once? Let me know in the comments, or on our Facebook wall.
