Android 4.2.2 has arrived, but has it stopped your phone from randomly restarting? The latest version of Android Jelly Bean software is now available for the Google Nexus 4 and Galaxy Nexus smart phones, as well as the Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 tablets, but we’re still having problems.
The new software landed on the Nexus devices last week. It was supposed to fix the problem with the previous version, 4.2.1, rebooting your phone without warning. Many users seem happy that the problem is now solved, although it does seem there are still occasional crashes — are you one of them, or is your phone still playing up?
Our Nexus 4 is still having freakouts — this very morning it threw its toys out of the pram yet again with an unexpected restart.
Often early adopters rush in where angels fear to tread, but fortunately 4.2.2 seems to be doing the job for most. Jelly Bean 4.2.2 mostly adds a number of bug fixes, most notably the random restart issue. It also offers up small tweaks like being able to long press on the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth icons in your settings menu to quickly switch them on and off.
You can download the factory image direct from Google, if you haven’t already been prompted to get it over-the-air straight to your phone. When the latest Jelly Bean software will reach other non-Nexus phones depends on the phone.
