Verizon announced today that it’s making the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean software update available for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

At long last, Verizon’s “pure Google” Samsung Galaxy Nexus has finally caught up with its Sprint counterpart in running the latest version of Android. Launched as the first Android device to run version 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the Galaxy Nexus has been slow to receive updates.

The 4.2 OS update comes more than two months after Sprint announced the same for its Galaxy Nexus.

The Jelly Bean update brings a smattering of features to the smartphone, including the Gesture Keyboard and lock screen widgets. The software update is expected to roll out in waves starting from March 19.
