LG has plans for a new flagship Android phone, the LG Optimus G2. LG’s new flagship Android phone arrives in autumn, but it’s still shrouded in mystery.
Talking to TrustedReviews, the head of LG’s European operation confirmed a G2 device is coming in the third quarter of 2013.
But LG remains cagey about the exact details of the device, saying only that the company has had to be “very creative” to come up with “something different, something unique.”
The G2 takes on the cutting-edge, market-leading likes of the iPhone 5, HTC One, and Samsung Galaxy S4, now just a week away from hitting shops. LG’s Optimus brand has never really captured the public imagination in the same way HTC or Samsung Galaxy phones have — especially here in the UK — so we’re interested to see what this different and unique phone will be like.
The sequel to the current LG Optimus G has been rumoured since last year, when word on the street suggested a 5-inch screen and new Android software.
The G2 is set to be one of the first phones to come with Key Lime Pie, the next version of Android. Key Lime Pie is expected to be unveiled at Google I/O, the annual developer conference taking place next month.
