LG reportedly prepping 8.3

LG may be dipping its toes back into the tablet market with a brand-new device.

Known as the LG G Pad, the new tablet will sport an 8.3 inch screen packed with a 1920×1200 resolution, Greek blog site TechBlog said today. Powered by a quad-core processor, the tablet will come with 2GB of RAM.

Citing people who reportedly took a close look at the tablet, TechBlog said it’s a thin, lightweight device with a small bezel and an aluminum back. The sources also claim the device can fit in someone’s back pocket despite its hefty screen size.

The tablet is expected to debut in early September during the IFA 2013 trade show in Berlin.

TechBlog didn’t say exactly where it got this information, which would typically raise a red flag. However, LG itself has tipped off a new tablet in the works.

Steve Koh, head of mobile communication at LG India, told blog site GizBot that “LG is indeed making a tablet” with a possible launch sometime later this year. As one more breadcrumb, a recent trademark filing by LG in Korea listed a GPad as one of the trademarked items.
