Samsung is China’s largest smartphone seller for the sixth consecutive quarter, new data shows.
During the second quarter, Samsung sold 15.3 million smartphones in China, leading all other handset makers, according to Korea’s Yonhap News Agency, which obtained the data from research firm Strategy Analytics. At that level, Samsung was able to nab 19.4 percent of the burgeoning Chinese market.
According to The Next Web, which also obtained data from Strategy Analytics, Apple was far behind Samsung, selling only 3.4 million iPhones in China during the second quarter. This equates to Apple accounting for 4.3 percent of the Chinese smartphone market.
China has become an increasingly important market as its consumer base continues to grow by leaps and bounds. During the second quarter, 78.8 million smartphones were purchased in China, accounting for 35 percent of all global shipments.
