Asus to unveil new PadFone Infinity on September 17

Asus’ new PadFone Infinity phone/tablet combo will take its bow on Tuesday, September 17, at a launch event in Taiwan.

Receiving an invitation to the event, the folks at Engadget said on Wednesday that Asus CEO Jerry Shen will play host. Little is known about the successor to the current PadFone Infinity, which leads a dual life as a 5-inch smartphone and a 10.1-inch tablet when docked. But Asus is expected to add a beefier Snapdragon 800 processor, a microSD slot, and an all-white color option, according to Engadget.

Asus is touting the launch of the new PadFone Infinity with a Web page and video showing the device lifting off.

The company is holding a separate media event Wednesday evening in San Francisco, right in the middle of the Intel Developer Forum, where it is expected to show off several tablet-laptop hybrids.
