The next Nexus smart phone will be made by Motorola and will be on sale in the last three months of the year. That’s according to prominent Android blogger Taylor Wimberly.
Wimberly was the man behind a lot of the leaks concerning the Moto X, so when he makes a claim like this, it’s worth paying attention. He wrote on his Google Plus page: “Motorola will release a Nexus smart phone in Q4 (that is not the Moto X).” Motorola failed to bring the Moto X to Blighty, but said it’s “working on something new“. Could this be it?
The Nexus 4 was a storming success, garnering rave reviews, but it was plagued by supply issues — LG couldn’t make enough of them to satisfy demand. The Korean company subsequently said it wasn’t interested in making another Nexus handset. Google bought Motorola back in 2011, so it would make sense for Moto to make the next flagship Android phone.
All eyes were on the Moto X to be a game changer, but after all the hype the handset was a little disappointing. It’s not as big as the Samsung Galaxy S4. The screen is a lower resolution. It won’t be running the latest version of Android, 4.3 Jelly Bean. And it’s not even coming to Britain, which shows just how much faith Motorola has in the product. Maybe it’s more of a halfway house while Motorola and Google get used to working together. Let’s hope so.
Meanwhile, we’ve heard a few rumours concerning the Nexus 5. One claimed it’ll have a Nikon camera, while another says it’ll have a 5.2-inch display.
