The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Sony Xperia Z1 Honami are expected to be announced on 4 September — that’s Wednesday — at IFA, and should be two of the stars of the show. They could both be out in the UK later that month too, if this leak sent to Engadget is to be believed.
It purports to be an internal document from numerical network Three, complete with release dates. It lists the Galaxy Note 3 as coming to the network on 16 September, and the Xperia Z1 on 24 September. It’s not official, as neither device is confirmed as yet. But if it’s genuine, us Brits won’t have long to wait to get our hands on these new mobiles.
The Galaxy Note 3 should be one of the biggest announcements of the show, seeing as it’s the follow-up to the multi-million-selling Note 2. It’s also said to be huge, packing a 5.7-inch display. New imaging skills are on the cards, with a 13-megapixel stills camera, and a video option that records in 4K Ultra HD — that’s four times as many pixels as 1080p HD.
Inside is said to be 3GB of RAM, and a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, or maybe Samsung’s own eight-core Exynos chip, depending on the territory.
The Sony Xperia Z1 Honami is expected to make a splash in more ways than one, seeing as it should be waterproof. Rumours say it’ll have a 20.7-megapixel camera on the back, a 5-inch HD screen and quad-core processor. A 3,000mAH battery should give it more legs than its predecessor, the Xperia Z.
