Walmart sells iPhone 5C for $45 with two

As big box stores competefor iPhone sales, Walmart is dropping its price for the recently released iPhone 5C, the retailer announced Friday.

Walmart will sell the so-called “cheap” version of the smartphone for $45 with a two-year contract. The phone normally goes for $99 with a contract.

The iPhone 5C cost $79 and the iPhone 5S went for $189 — both with a standard two-year contract. The chain also offered a trade-in deal for older smartphones in hopes of luring customers into its stores.

The announcement comes shortly after Best Buy rolled out a limited-time promotion, selling the iPhone 5C for $50 and the Samsung Galaxy S4 for $150. Target has also been in the fray, matching Walmart’s $79 preorder price for the iPhone 5C with a contract.
