Google-owned Motorola Mobility is trying to lure iPhone users over to the Moto X.
A new tool on Motorola’s Moto Maker site, the Web store for customizing and purchasing Moto X phones, lets users migrate contact and calendar information from an Apple iCloud account to a Google account.
The steps appear pretty straightforward, according to a help page on the migration tool. After purchasing a Moto X from the Moto Maker site, users enter their iCloud credentials, log in to their Google account, and click a few “Begin Transfer” prompts to migrate over their contacts and calendar data.
“There is a long way to go, but it’s a start,” wrote Punit Soni, vice president of product management at Motorola Mobility, in a Google+ post announcing the tool Wednesday. “Hope folks who are transitioning from an iOS Motorola Moto Xdevice find it useful.”
The tool is powered by Mark/Space, according to the screenshots posted by Soni. It also appears to only be available to customers purchasing a new Moto X from the Moto Maker site.
The Moto Migrate tool migrates from iCloud only for newly purchased devices, a Motorola representative told CNET, adding that the company was examining the possibility of extending the feature to older devices.
