Like last year’s overwhelmingly brilliant Nexus 4, Google’s Nexus 5 looks set to come in white as well as black — and it’s coming later this week, according to well-connected mobile industry tipster @evleaks.
The above pic popped up online yesterday accompanied by the date “11/1”. Presuming there hasn’t been some terrible delay until 11 January, that means 1 November — this Friday.
That pretty much tallies up with rumours this weekend that the new Android flagship phone would be unveiled on Thursday, which is also Halloween, spook-fans.
The rendered image matches up with recently leaked packaging too.
Google’s latest mobile is due to be built by LG and run on the mighty 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 chip that powers the latest top-end phones, including the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and LG G2, with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. That’s according to a leaked manual from a few weeks ago, which also confirmed the new blower will glory in a Full HD 1080p 4.95-inch screen and full 4G data connectivity.
Meanwhile yet another leak (this phone really shouldn’t be too much of a surprise) pegged the Nexus 5’s US price at $349, the same as the Nexus 4’s initial cost, which works out to £215, or £258 including VAT. I’d put money it’ll be the same as last year’s too — £249.
The mistakenly posted price listing also promised the 5 would let you “capture the everyday and the epic in fresh new ways”, indicating that its Android 4.4 KitKat software will have camera features as fun and surprising as the Nexus 4’s ace panorama world.
Which colour Nexus 5 will you plump for? What do you think would be a fair price for top-of-the-line Android hardware? Make an offer down in the comments, or on our bargain-basement Facebook page.
