Motorola just dropped us a note, inviting your humble CNET correspondents to the launch of a brand-new blower — the Moto G.
After the UK sadly missed out on the hugely customisable Moto X, it looks as though a simpler, cheaper, lower-spec version with a similar curved design will be making it across the pond. The launch event is next Wednesday, 13 November.
We reported over the weekend that details of the G had apparently leaked from a Phones4U promotion, which combined Christmas-themed cheer with cold hard specs and a rock-bottom price of £135.
The G is hardly going to set the world alight, but at such a low price it’s hard to argue with a 4.5-inch 720p screen, a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, and 5-megapixel and 1.3-megapixel cameras.
Android 4.3 Jelly Bean will be running the show, according to the leak, rather than the latest 4.4 KitKat that’s on Google’s sharp new Nexus 5. That’s mildly surprising, considering Google owns Motorola, but it may take Moto’s interface chefs some time to add their seasonings to the Big G’s latest choc-flavoured confection.
