BlackBerry is already adding new features to its BBM apps for Android and iPhone, in updates rolling out today, the company has announced.
While the apps took months to turn up, less than a month after they appeared they’re being enhanced — a great sign to committed users that they’re being well supported.
New features include Share Your PIN, which helps you distribute your BBM PIN on your social network of choice, including Facebook and Twitter, as well as find your buds who are already using the IM app.
As we reported earlier in the week, the iOS update adds support for iPad and iPod touch — good news if you can’t afford £549 for a brand-new iPhone 5S, although it’s not specifically designed for the bigger screens of the iPads, so it may look janky.
The update fixes a barrelful of bugs too, including missing contact names on iOS and higher battery use on Android.
BBM was installed by over 10 million people on the day it was released on the two most popular app stores. The service is used by over 80 million people worldwide every day, although it’s been surpassed by rivals such as WhatsApp in recent years.
