EE 4G hits 10 more towns, 19 more going 4G for Christmas

Fast 4G phone signal has come to Bath, Brighton, and Northampton as EE turns on super-fast data in another double-handful of British towns, with a further 19 coming in time for Christmas.

4G EE goes live today in Bath, Bournemouth, Brighton, Cambridge, Darlington, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Northampton, Poole, Portsmouth and Redcar. These ten bring the total to 141 towns and cities covered by 4G in England, Ireland and Wales.

And by Christmas, that number will reach 160 as EE brings 4G festive cheer to — deep breath — Aberdeen, Braintree, Cheltenham, Chester, Dundee, Durham, Exeter, Gloucester, Grimsby, Ipswich, Lincoln, Middlesbrough, Norwich, Peterborough, Plymouth, Stoke-on-Trent, Swansea, Swindon and York.

EE, Britain’s first 4G network, also runs trials connecting the countryside notspots of Cumbria, and souping-up speeds with an LTE-Advanced network in London, claimed by EE to be the world’s fastest. The company, formed by the merger of Orange and T-Mobile had an almost year-long headstart over rivals O2, Vodafone, Tesco Mobile and Three, newcomers to the 4G game.
