The HTC One Mini will definitely be receiving an update to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, HTC has confirmed.
The Taiwanese phone-maker told CNET UK that the update will be hitting the UK in over-the-air form ‘live from now’, also bringing version 5.5 of HTC’s Sense interface to the diminutive blower.
Although HTC says the update is out now, it’s not unusual for new versions of Android to take a while to filter out to every owner.
Android 4.3 is a recent version of Google mobile operating system, but it isn’t quite on the cutting edge. Android 4.4 KitKat is the very latest edition, and can be found running on the Google Nexus 5.
I’ve asked HTC whether there are any plans to bring KitKat to the 4.3-inch One Mini. The company has said that the newest version of Android will arrive on the flagship HTC One from the end of January.
Samsung meanwhile is tipped to offer the Galaxy S4 a bite of KitKat in January.
The HTC One Mini earned a hearty four stars in our in-depth review, garnering praise for its pocket-friendly size and sturdy metal construction. We weren’t too chuffed with its dual-core processing power and lack of expandable storage, however.
Are you an HTC One Mini owner? Is HTC doing a good job with new version of Android, or would you prefer speedier updates? Let me know in the comments, or on our Facebook wall.
