Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini looks hot in orange, pink and purple

Samsung’s wee Galaxy S4 Mini has three spectacular new colours — eye-scalding orange, supernova-hot pink and ecclesiastical purple. The vibrant new S4 Mini is available to buy now at Carphone Warehouse, from free on a £21 per month contract.

If you want it in orange, you’ll be waiting a week or so, as it’s due on 9 December, but Carphone has the other colours, as well as the original black and white versions, in stock.

The colourful new blower goes up against Nokia’s range of brightly painted blowers, with the Lumia 525 announced this morning in swappable orange and yellow, among other cases. It’s a minor update to the superb value Lumia 520.

If you’re not bothered about the tasty new hues, you can bag a black S4 Mini for £290 SIM-free from Play.com. Here’s Andy fondling one in his video review:

Or you might want to pick something else — the S4 Mini is a little overpriced for what it offers, with much less power than the full-fat S4, and a sub-HD screen. It does have 4G, however, which many mid-priced mobiles don’t offer.

The Moto G is the current frontrunner among reasonably priced Android phones, with a quad-core processor and a 4.5-inch HD screen for £135 or even less if you shop around. That’s less than half the price of the S4 Mini, and a cast-iron bargain.

Crucially, it’s also available in a range of bright colours, including turquoise, red, pink and yellow. The only strikes against it are its lack of expandable storage (although the 16GB version is not much more expensive) and its failure in the 4G department.

Which colourful gadget would you like from Santa this Christmas? Are the Lumias the most stylish, or does Samsung still have the edge on design? What do you think of the Moto G? Fill me in down in the comments, or on our multi-coloured Facebook page.
