Game of Thrones season 3 is now available to download on Android in the UK, as well as a host of other HBO shows including Veep and True Blood.
Girls, and Boardwalk Empire complete the line-up of shows, which are now available to buy on Google Play, in standard or high definition.
Previously the only way to watch Game of Thrones on an Android smart device was through Tesco’s Blinkbox service for tablets — but while episodes are identically priced on Blinkbox (£1.89 for a standard definition episode, £2.49 for HD), Tesco’s app only lets you stream episodes over an Internet connection.
Google Play by contrast downloads TV shows, so you can watch them even if you are on the bus, away from an Internet connection.

Google Play’s latest acquisition gives iTunes a sound thrashing, as there are currently precisely zero episodes of Game of Thrones available through Apple’s own TV, movie and music shop.
Season 3 of Game of Thrones aired earlier this year, with the Blu-ray due out on 24 February. Season 4 of the dragon-fuelled drama will air in 2014.
