A recent post on Google+ suggests that Motorola is unofficially supporting the next release of Android. In a discussion with the Moto X Community whether the phone would get the Android L update, Motorola vice president of product management Punit Soni replied with a simple, “Yup.”
While this isn’t on quite the same level as a press release or blog post, it’s about as official as anything we may get from Motorola. That is, rather, until the next version of Android is publicly released and hardware makers openly discuss updates.
Given that the lesser-powered Moto E is expected to pick up Android L, it stands to reason that Motorola would want the same support for its higher-end Moto X.
Currently available as a developer preview, the next version of Android is slated for release in the coming months.
CNET has contacted Motorola for comment and will update this post with new information.
