Sprint nabs Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 as first Spark

Sprint and Samsung join up on the carrier’s first Spark tablet.

Sprint has released several phones on its tri-band Spark LTE network, but Monday marks the first time that the carrier Sparks up a tablet. On Monday, it announced the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0, which goes on sale August 15.

The Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 is powered by Android 4.4 KitKat and features a 7-inch 1,280×800 pixel resolution display, a 3-megapixel rear camera, and a front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera. A 1.2GHz quad-core processor keeps things moving along at a solid clip while the 4,000mAh battery promises a full day of battery life.

As the first tablet equipped for Sprint’s Spark LTE, the Tab 4 7.0 is capable of theoretical peak download speeds of 50-to-60Mbps. Currently offered in 27 markets across the United States, typical speeds range between 6 and 15Mbps down.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 will be sold in white and black beginning August 15, for $0 down and 24 monthly payments of $12.50, or $300 total. Sprint is sweetening the deal with a limited time offer of a $10 monthly service plan credit for two years.
