Sony could soon have three new mobile devices to offer consumers, if a new video posted to YouTube is any indication.
On Thursday, Sony posted a teaser video to its Xperia channel on YouTube, just a week ahead of the rumored unveiling of a new flagship Xperia device on September 3 at Sony’s press event at the IFA trades show. Any new device would likely come with a wide range of improved specs to take on the likes of Apple’s iPhone 6, which is also expected to be unveiled next month.
The video mostly shows 20-somethings being active — skateboarding, chopping onions, running on a track, jumping into a pool.
But the more tantalizing element of the video was a flash of three silhouettes, suggesting that Sony has more in store for its event than initially expected. The video also starts out with a count of 1, 2, 3.
Sony has been tight-lipped about any devices it might reveal.
The consumer electronics giant holds press events at IFA each year and typically uses the time to show off new smartphones and tablets. This year, it had seemed as though Sony would focus on its next flagship handset, but perhaps tradition will hold true.
CNET has contacted Sony for comment on the video. We will update this story when we have more information.
