In what could be construed as a counteroffensive attack, Verizon has quietly rolled out a new individual rate plan. Available immediately, the $60 option gives customers unlimited talk and text plus a 2GB bucket worth of 4G LTE data.

The same plan previously cost $90 per month as it was comprised of a $40 connection charge and $50 for the service. As an added incentive, those who finance their devices through Verizon Edge can save an additional $10 per month. Data overages for the plan are billed at $15 per 1GB.

The new rate plan comes days before Sprint is rumored to be introducing its own “very disruptive” offerings. In fact, the next few weeks could give way to plenty of juggling and stare-downs between carriers. Both CTIA and IFA are scheduled for September and could yield more attractive rate plans and incentives for consumers.
