Aimed at the medical market, Sony’s new OLED TV boasts a resolution of 2048×2560 pixels.
While Sony’s XEL-1 retail OLED is very much discontinued, the company is still working with OLED technology.
According to a press release, Sony will unveil the medical display later this month. The screen is 20.5 inches, with a 2048×2560 resolution. Because the display will be used for medical imaging, it’s actually monochrome, with a super-high contrast and extremely rich black levels.
Interestingly, despite showing off the screen in Chicago, Sony has made it clear that it won’t actually be available for sale in America.
Sony already has an OLED monitor in the market: the 24.5-inch PVM-2551MD, with a 1920×1080 resolution. Sony is touting the new monitor as having applications for a wider range of surgical procedures.
