Netflix on Virgin Media TiVo boxes now

Netflix hits Virgin Media this week, and it could be on your TiVo box right now. The popular movie and TV streaming service is being switched on for Virgin’s set-top boxes throughout this week, and everyone should have access by Friday.

You have to subscribe to Netflix to use the app, so that’s an extra £6 per month on top of your Virgin Media bill, although you can get a month free when you sign up for the first time. For your money you can watch exclusive shows such as Breaking Bad, House of Cards, Orange is the New Black and more.

And if you’re a Virgin Media customer who pays for a Premiere or VIP Collections subscription, you can get six free months of Netflix.

To watch Netflix through your Virgin Media box, head to the Apps and Games section. If you’re already a paid-up Netflix viewer, simply log in with your existing Netflix credentials. If not, you can sign up through the app and enjoy your free month.

Many smart TVs have their own Netflix app but they’re not generally much cop, so at least you have a choice. You can access Netflix pretty much anywhere nowadays, through your laptop, PC, phone, tablet or games console. Unlike, say, Sky’s Now TV, Netflix allows you to connect as many devices as you like, so you can add your TV to the list with your phone and other devices.

Netflix recently introduced user profiles to share one account and a
watch list to bookmark movies and TV for later. Your friends and family can still watch on another device at the same time as you’re watching on your telly.

Virgin has promised across the board speed boosts for broadband customers next February when it launches a dizzyingly fast new 152Mbps service. Sadly there will be price hikes at the same time, with Virgin admitting the average bill will claim 6.7 per cent.
