The Foxtel Play app can be downloaded from the PlayStation Network for the PS3. As always, Foxtel Play is a month-by-month subscription, with no lock in contracts and the use of the Go mobile app is included.

The move is timed to coincide with the new season of Game of Thrones, with the first episode of season four airing at 3.30pm AEST on Monday 7 April. Foxtel seems pretty keen have the roughly two million PS3 owners get in on the action.

“The arrival of Foxtel Play on PlayStation 3 provides Australia’s massive population of PS3 owners with access to a huge entertainment boost,” said Foxtel COO Rohan Lund in a media statement. “With the upcoming season of landmark series Game of Thrones spearheading a fantastic line up of hit shows airing on Foxtel Play, the news couldn’t come at a better time.”

The addition of the PlayStation 3 now means that Play is available on Xbox 360, PS3, select LG Smart TVs, selected Samsung smart TV and home entertainment devices, as well as PC and Mac.

Additionally, for the month of April, Foxtel has a special offer that allows users to add the Premium Movies and Drama category to their Play subscription for just AU$10 per month for the first three months, rather than the usual AU$25.

Sadly, there’s no timing on the PS4 version of the Play app with both Sony and Foxtel just saying that it’s “coming soon”.
