Gear VR is the latest in lineup of delayed Samsung products

Samsung has announced that the Gear VR will not be available this year, slipping to a rather vague “early 2015”.

The highly anticipated product, which uses the Samsung Note 4 to provide a head-mounted VR experience, had initially been given a November 2014 on sale when officially launched in the same month.

Two other products launched at the same time were also delayed — the Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy Note Edge.

The Note 4 was supposed to hit retail on October 29 and was pushed back to November 5. The Note Edge was pushed back twice, eventually moving from a November 5 release to November 25.

The announcement of the Gear VR delay reads, in its entirety:

Samsung Electronics Australia wishes to advise that the Gear VR on-sale date has been revised to early 2015. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

We’ve asked Samsung to expand on the nature of the delays, but the company has, once again, informed us that they have no further information to offer.

The Samsung Gear VR Innovator Edition is currently available in the US. You can read our hands-on experience with it below.
