These things have minds of their own, and those minds may not be the brightest.
For here is the story of a Korean woman who fell asleep, only to be woken by her robot vacuum cleaner attacking her.
Had she been cruel to it? Had she failed to wipe it down after use? Had she offended it with an unfavorable comparison to an old Hoover?
No, as Korea Bizwire reported, she had merely made the mistake of falling asleep on the floor.
You might wonder: “Who falls asleep when there’s an alien being in their presence?” But this woman, believed to be in her 50s, was clearly tired.

It seems that the vacuum cleaner did not tire quickly of eating her hair. The hungry, hungry bot went on for around two minutes before it had an attack of conscience.
The woman had to call emergency services in order to get unentangled from this mechanical beast. The local fire department came to her rescue and reportedly offered the conclusion that the robot cleaner mistook the woman’s hair for dust.
Now that is deeply unkind.
It is my belief that the woman should now discipline the robot. It should be grounded, kept in a dark cupboard and prevented from eating dirt for at least two weeks.
