Walking into Best Buy and visiting the fitness band aisle is starting to feel a bit like staring at the giant wall of TVs across from it. There’s not only a section for upward of 10 different companies, each company has more than one product. How do you decide which one is right for you? Sure, you can always take advantage of Best Buy’s generous exchange policy to keep trying the bands out until you find the one that works for you.
But for some, the try-after-you-buy approach to shopping works. Others will find the constant back and forth and waiting in lines annoying and time-consuming.
Enter Lumoid and its Wearables Box. For $20 you can have five different fitness trackers shipped to your door. Once it arrives, you have a week to try them on, test them out, and see what each one is all about. International shipping is not yet available, but the company says on its site that it may offer it in the future if there’s enough demand for it.
Fitbit, Jawbone, Misfit, Withings and Garmin are just a few of the brands I saw on the site.
At the end of the week-long trial, you ship the items back to the company. Lumoid will waive the rental fee if you end up buying the fitness tracker you liked the most directly from the company.
I’m pretty happy with my current fitness band, but I have to admit, the ability to rent a DJI Phantom Vision 2+ quadcopter from the site caught my eye. If you need me, I’ll be practicing my pilot skills. I’d rather not have a close call like this guy.
