Verizon has finally joined the other major US carriers in offering the Nexus 6 phone.
In a news update thanking all Nexus fans for their patience, Verizon confirmed that the Nexus 6 will be up for sale online starting this Thursday and in stores as of next Thursday, March 19. Buyers can pick up the phone for $250 under the standard two-year agreement or for $27.08 per month for 24 months via the Verizon Edge option.
Verizon took a while to launch the highly-reviewed Nexus 6. The phone has already been available for sale via Google and Motorola as well as AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint. Verizon offered no explanation for why it was last in line. But to compete with the other carriers, Verizon is throwing in a freebie aimed at enticing new buyers.
Anyone who picks up the Nexus 6 through Verizon before March 31 will get a six-month subscription to Google Play Music All Access for free. Google itself offers a trial to its unlimited streaming music service but only for 30 days. After the trial or free access ends, the service costs $10 a month to continue.
Verizon is also touting the Advanced Calling 1.0 features accessible on its Nexus 6, which comes out of the box with Android 5.1 Lollipop. The phone offers HD voice calling with other compatible Verizon smartphones. It also allows for simultaneous voice and data use, so you can talk and use the Internet at the same time.
Powered by a 2.7 GHz quad-core processor, the Nexus 6 offers a 6-inch AMOLED Quad HD screen and includes 32GB of built-in storage. Also part of the package are a 13-megapixel rear facing camera with optical image stabilization, dual front-facing speakers and a 3200mAh battery that promises up to 24 hours of life on a single charge.
