Details of the LG G4 are hardly a closely guarded secret. In the past weeks, the South Korean device-maker has both accidentally and intentionally leaked images and specs ahead of the official unveiling.
For instance, the invitation to the event clearly shows a brown leather or leatherette backing with stitching detail, the G line’s now-signature rear control buttons, and the rear camera’s aperture.
LG has also confirmed the phone’s curved 5.5-inch Quad HD display (2,560×1,440 pixels), which promises richer colors, and teased the G4’s 16-megapixel camera.
The handset-maker has been gaining steam in the smartphone arena despite its smaller global market share. In January, LG posted record profits, buoyed by sales of the LG G3 in 2014. Meanwhile, Samsung’s profitability continued its decline at the end of last year. Still, strong Galaxy S6
and S6 Edge sales could once again turn the tide.
