Samsung has broken away from its White Pearl and Black Sapphire palette to bring Marvel superfans a sleek new version of its flagship Galaxy S6 Edge smartphone in racy shades of Iron Man red.
Launched in “celebration” of the recently-released Marvel blockbuster “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” the Galaxy S6 Edge Iron Man Limited Edition takes its design cues from Tony Stark’s armoured suit, with a metallic red body and gold accents around the buttons, the camera and the edge of the curved smartphone itself.
On the rear of the body, a print of Iron Man’s mask hovers above the device’s Limited Edition serial number (here’s hoping for 0001, please) and Samsung has also teased at an Iron Man-esque user interface on the display, complete with matching fonts and red and gold phone and camera icons — though no word yet on whether J.A.R.V.I.S. will be baked into the operating system to give Siri a run for her money.
The Korean handset manufacturer hinted at the release of the new S6 Edge earlier this month, taking to the official Samsung Twitter account to post a picture of an Avengers-emblazoned box with the promise that a new product was “coming soon”.
The red and gold S6 Edge comes with 64GB of storage as well as a matching wireless charger, and while Tony Stark is more than happy to get his suit scratched, Samsung has thrown in a clear cover for the device so your armour stays protected.
The only drawback for Avengers fans is that the Iron Man Limited Edition has limited availability — the smartphone will be available in Korea from May 27, 2015, with models coming to China and Hong Kong in June.
Although that’s no problem if you can power up your suit and take a short flight to get your hands on one.
