Stan officially launches its Apple TV app

Australian streaming service Stan, a joint venture between Fairfax and Nine Entertainment, has announced that its native Apple TV app is now available for users. While Stan has already been compliant with Apple TV’s Airplay, the new app means Stan subscribers will be able to access the video-on-demand content without the need for an additional device.

The official launch of the app comes on the back of an accidental leak on Monday. The Apple website posted an image of the Stan app on its “What’s on Apple TV” page. It was quickly removed, and a Stan representative confirmed that an Apple TV app was not currently available.

Despite the announcement today, the Stan app has not reappeared on the Apple TV site. The new app adds to Stan’s already impressive collection of compatible devices. Rival streaming service Netflix also has a native Apple TV app.

Stan recently announced that it had begun production on its first original local production, a comedy called “No Activity,” with two more on the way.
